She was a lot like you... - a photo on Flickriver

            Oh, what a lovely cosplay oasis for this (more or less) non-gamer. A gaming character that I recognized!

...Well, I recognized the game. "Portal," clearly, and I inferred that the woman was GlaDOS, a character with some sensational writing behind her.

Except I wasn't 100% sure that GlaDOS ever had a human appearance. I did an image search with some benign keywords and came away with two conclusions:

1) I think this is like "TARDIS dress" cosplay. Where there's no real canonical wearable costume of this character and cosplayers have filled this vacuum with a certain "reference design" that many Portal cosplayers use as a starting point;

2) I should always turn "Safe Search" back ON before doing an image search for ANY female game character. If someone interviewed the creator of "Space Invaders" and he said "It's silly, but I always thought of the aliens in the third row as being all female" it would take about 14 minutes for someone to draw a pervy picture of that 14x14 pixel art.

("Hey, how many pixels are in those figures?" I wondered. Image search yielded the bitmaps...and a DeviantArt drawing of a naked woman in knee socks fighting bitmap Space Invaders aliens off with a laser pistol.)

I'd like to open this photo in Aperture. It has a lovely feature where you point it to a face and it'll white balance the photo based on skin tone. I won't tell it that the face is painted in clown white and we'll all have a good laugh at Aperture's expense. I'm sure Aperture will be a good sport about it, particularly with the "Aperture Science" connection.
