Well, Screw The New York Times - a photo on Flickriver

            Okay, well. Apparently the "Vows" section doen't write about couples if they're cows. 

Or if they're already married. Whatever but I bet it's the cow thing and that's just sad.

The Holsteins specifically wanted their photo taken at Bethesda Fountain for the Times story, too.

Well, fine. Stupid anti-cow jerks.

The Holsteins also suppose that their "We both have quite commonplace careers, we met at work, we wooed slowly, and we forged a lifelong bond" story isn't appropriate for the New York Stupid Times "Vows" section. To get their attention, the Holsteins know that their tale would have to go like

"Though being the son of an international door-handle magnate provided no shortage of pleasures and achievements in life, including three concurrent Oxford MBAs with a semester-at-sea on the Mir space station, redesigning the $20 bill, and sport-fishing for genetically-engineered aqua-leopards from the deck of a 180-foot yacht on a lake filled with angel urine (both of his own design), there was one thing missing in life. Inevitably, his insatiable drive led him to finding a qualified wife board-certified in multiple spousal disciplines. She, the writer of over nine critically-acclaimed, definitive biographies of failed vice-presidential nominees..."

The Holsteins are glad that the people who get written up in the "Vows" column get written up in the "Vows" column. Really.

When a couple lacks actual love, it's these pointless showcases that help the relationship stay together. For two or three months beyond the eighteen that everyone always said it would last before it flames out, anyway.

The Holsteins just wanted this photo in the New York Times "Vows" section because it would save them the trouble and expense of printing up copies of this vacation photo for all of their friends and family members and having them delivered.
