Godrevy Lighthouse Silhouette - a photo on Flickriver

            Capture of Godrevy Lighthouse approaching sunset. Many compositions of Godrevy Lighthouse are captured from the St Ives side.  My challenge was to capture the sunset from the Portreath side at low tide so I could get the best silhouette effect from the rocks that the Lighthouse sits on. Using tide tables, weather forecasts and the app PhotoPills I planned the day.  Arriving at Godrevy one and halve hours before sunset, I set up the camera and experimented with different compositions and settings ready for the Grand Finale.  Typically, 10 minutes before sunset the sun fell behind a bank of cloud that appeared from no-where on the horizon.  Oh well good reason to return.
