Stranger 56 - Richard - a photo on Flickriver

Today I met Richard and his daughter Ishtara on Glastonbury Tor. The light was very strong and I tried a few different angles to try and get a good shot. Richard was most cooperative while I was doing this.

Richard has worked in design and film making, mostly in London and Amsterdam. He spoke with delight about his work in Amsterdam where Royal funding allowed for fascinating projects that might not have been made otherwise. One that I found interesting was making a film documentary about chess where he got to meet many Grandmasters.

While in Amsterdam Richard got to see a lot of art. These days he likes abstract art. I mentioned that I tended to like abstract art that has good colour and am not so keen on gloomy dark colours.

His daughter was also happy to be photographed and will the next stranger that I upload. She has been studying music and plays several instruments. I asked Richard whether he did and he told me that he used to play saxophone and that he once played for the Queen. He wasn’t sure whether she enjoyed it – he was 6 years old at the time.

Thank you Richard for being patient with me while I struggled with the light today. I am kind of sorry that I didn’t suggest trying a shot in St Michael’s tower as I went in there just after and discovered that the lighting was really good. Never mind it was great to meet you and Ishtara today.
