Day 365: It Ain't Over, 'Til It's Over

            Wow! So, I did it, I made it through an entire year of self-portraiture... without missing a beat!

Sure, there were plenty (and a half) days where I was just not feeling it... then came feet, hand, or random apendage shots! Or I'd press through said funk, and actually find myself creating something that even astounded me.

For me, that's what it's all about. Pushing forward, pressing in, and really activating that creativity that I know lies underneath all the rest of the mess that is me! The art of commitment. The diligence of practice. And especially, the important documentation factor.

I've had quite the year... beyond anything I could have ever foreseen.

I started out sick, sans a job, and with the best friend I'd found in a long time... honestly, a man I thought to be so much more than just a friend... moving towards the long-term.
Helped him get into a DSLR, just digging my own need/want for such a move deeper and deeper still. We shared geeky photo-talk, excursions, and continued our relationship as it had been for that last few years...

As you may very well know or realize by now, that's no longer the case. In a series of events/moments/under-handed moves... I suddenly found myself picking up pieces I never knew could fall off of me. I was dropped, like a hot potato, and I watched as someone who I truly care for made decisions and moves in his life that seriously concern me. While i can do nothing, I continue to pray that someday he will deal with it all, in a healthy manner, and move forward to be all the man he's intended to be.

The rest of my year, although the outlook seemed bleak, has been AMAZING!

In hitting copmplete and pure honesty with my peeps, I've found a freedom like no other. I know, that I know, that I know... that I am of a much grander value then I was being given credit for. I know that they've got my back. I know that I can go to them with anything, and be loved... supported... and held accountable, as much as I want!

As difficult as it was for me to truly dive into my photography after the blow, I did... slowly, but surely... and with the constant encouragement of the aforementioned friends. I poked around with TtV. I picked up an old school SLR and got used to no-chimpin'-allowed. And miraculously... I somehow walked away with the 40D!

It has all been so entirely incredible, I still have to pinch myself at times.

As they new year is upon us, I can't imagine life without all this: the pictures, the documentation, the support.

With that said, you can count on me to keep on keepin' on... 366Days of 2008 await me!
