Spinning Fantasy

3 Image HDR/DRI with 14 image exposure for crane swivel light trails. Farrer Road, Singapore.

My aunt lives in that area and I always liked how dynamic the area is. This is one of the few places where the traffic is continuous, making it good for light trail shooting.

Honestly, I didn't like the place at all. There wasn't anything interesting other than the light trails coming from the vehicles. So I thought long and hard about making this night scene interesting to look at. I mean, I'd like to give the audience some credit. So I tried other compositions but that didn't seem to help either.

Was about to pack my stuff when I noticed the swivelling lights coming from the tower cranes while they spin. And I thought to myself; what if I capture and make those into light trails caused by the swivelling cranes? So that's how the idea came into fruition.

The bad part is, it took me nearly 2 hours to shoot this alone. The cranes barely moved at all, and I was hungry and missed dinner. Well, I'd do anything just to make this shot complete. :)
