The Comma (Polygonia c-album) is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Nymphalidae. Its irregular wing edges are characteristic of the Polygonia genus, which is why they are commonly called anglewings. Comma butterflies can be identified by their prominent orange and dark brown/black dorsal wings. It is found in northern Africa and across Europe from Portugal through Asia as far as Japan. It is primarily a woodland butterfly, living in low-density forests with sunshine and moist soil. These butterflies hibernate, so they could be seen all around the year, but the active flying period extends from March to November, depending on location. Full-grown comma butterflies have a wingspan of about 45 mm, or 1.8 inches. Females lay up to 275 green eggs, which turn yellow and ultimately grey before hatching. The caterpillars are black and white, resembling a bird dropping. The most widely used foodplant for caterpillars is Common Nettle (Urtica dioica). Other species used include Hop (Humulus lupulus), elms (Ulmus spp.), currants (Ribes spp.), and Willows (Salix spp). Adult butterflies feeds on nectar of wild flowers such as thistle and knapweed, and can be seen in autumn feeding on ripe blackberry and fallen fruit such as plum.

Rusałka ceik (Polygonia c-album) – gatunek motyla z rodziny rusałkowatych (Nymphalidae). Skrzydła o rozpiętości 45–50 mm, silnie postrzępione, z wierzchu rdzawe z czarnymi i brunatnymi plamkami. Owady dorosłe można spotkać od wczesnej wiosny do końca czerwca (egzemplarze zimujące), a następnie od lipca do późnej jesieni. Typowe biotopy tego motyla to tereny ruderalne, ogrody, polany i drogi leśne. Rusałka ceik jest gatunkiem pospolitym. Postać dorosła żywi się nektarem, sokiem z przejrzałych owoców, a także płynami wysysanymi z gnijących odchodów i padliny. Gąsienice żerują od początku maja do końca sierpnia. Podstawowymi roślinami żywicielskimi gąsienic są: pokrzywa zwyczajna, chmiel zwyczajny, wiąz górski, wierzba iwa, a także porzeczki i leszczyny. Samiec patroluje swój rewir z ziemi lub gałęzi drzew i atakuje inne motyle, nawet większe, przepędzając je ze swojego terenu.
