            Class S8 is a Diesel multiple unit (DMU) made by Hitachi and Hyundai, operated by Sri Lanka Railways. It was imported to Sri Lanka in 1991 and, Twenty units were imported bearing Nos 821-840. This work horse of Sri Lanka Railways has four passenger compartments and a dummy control unit. It is a diesel hydraulic multiple unit that can accelerate quickly. These sets are normally used for office trains & Colombo commuters. Power Car 822 approaching Colombo Fort
