Birmingham - St Thomas' Garden 01 - a photo on Flickriver

            The Peace Garden, covers what remains of St Thomas' Church. The church was destroyed by bombing on 11th December 1940. Only the tower at the western end of the church survived. The remains and adjacent gardens are left as a permanent memorial to the losses of the Second World War. in 1998 the city was host to a G8 summit and leaders from UK, Germany, Russia (Boris Yeltsin) and the USA planted trees that represented there nation.
