I was pretty knackered yesterday evening having only turned in at 3am the night before, a bout of sledging in the morning & then clearing snow from our driveway (in case a speedy nocturnal exit was required for 'new arrivals') but a hard sky with glittering stars & no moon was just too tempting to pass up so I headed out again on the trail of Comet Lovejoy. Ideally I would have liked to head miles from the city & all the light pollution but I really wasn't up for that so I headed down to Kilmardinny Loch again- the late night dog-walkers are getting used to me sat on the bench in the dark! It was a surprisingly profitable trip and I managed to locate the comet. I also managed to improve my technique for photographing celestial bodies and was pretty chuffed with the images I got. Late on a bright meteor blazed fleet across the sky from Orion towards Taurus. The Hunter had aimed an arrow at The Bull?
