Joseph Curtel (No. 13) Tour of Algiers 1929

            The bike of Joseph Curtel (1893-1960) of Marseille after he was hit during the 1929 Tour of Algiers (photo from Le Miroir des Sports  May 28, 1929). Leg injuries apparently ended his season, though he resumed his career with a result recorded as late as 1931. He won Marseille-Lyon (1926) amongst his four professional victories, and had a notable second place in Paris-Roubaix (1927).
