One of the parrots released in December

            This parrot cranes its neck to look speculatively a the photographer.  It is one of twenty five parrots released into the wild from the Rio Abajo aviary.  You can see the antenna of the radiotransmitter that this bird has if you look at the lower left side of the picture.  This photo was taken shortly after the release.  The parrot tolerated my proximity because I am the manager of the captive propagation program and it knows me since its birth.  These birds are very wary when approached by strangers so anyone else that tries getting a photo like this will need a good telephoto lens.
