1994 Innocenti Elba 1.7D

            And so I've saved the best from Italy 'til last!

The Innocenti Elba is a car very few will have heard of – much less seen – considering Innocentis were only sold in their native Italy. Indeed, this was the very first (and only) time I would ever behold one in the metal.

Built between 1991 and 1997, and looking very much like a facelifted Fiat Regata Weekend (the rear light clusters are almost identical), the Elba came in just two configurations: the estate you see here, and the rarer van variant. Incidentally, the Regata was also available as a van, where it was known as the Fiat Penny.

Although it looks very presentable here (even holding onto all of its wheeltrims), it no longer lists on the Italian equivalent of the DVLA, so I can only assume that it has since been scrapped.

Originally registered (very appropriately!) in Turin in 1994, this example has travelled pretty much from the extreme northwest of the country to the northeast in Treviso, where this picture was taken.
