Former WMPTE 4047, Trevor Wigley's scrap yard, 1993

            Former WMPTE 4047 in the colours of Richardsons of Oldbury, property tycoons who had used several former WMPTE bus to advertise their Dudley Enterprise Zone in Brierley Hill, West Midlands. The Enterprise Zone ultimately became the Merry Hill Shopping centre and the buses fell redundant. 4047 was for a time secured for preservation, but was sadly scrapped when the owner found that the engine had blown a head gasket. The bus was in a good solid state and it seems such a shame that it went for scrap for what was a reasonably minor defect. A sister bus 4133 that had been with Richardsons was also later saved to preservation and was restored to its original WMPTE condition, but this too has left the preservation scene to become a caravan in France, however, it is currently up for sale.
