7000HP, Derby Bus Station, 1964 - a photo on Flickriver

7000HP, Derby Bus Station, 1964

            7000HP was a 1960 built Daimler Fleetline demonstration vehicle that was hired by Daimler to UK bus operators to trial the Fleetline. 

After use by numerous bus companies, the bus was eventually disposed of by Daimler in 1966 to Tailby and George of Repton (Trading as Blue Bus Service). 

The Blue Bus Services fleet was acquired by Derby City Transport in circa 1973, when the company owner's retired. Following the takeover, this unique bus was lost in an all consuming fire at the former Blue Bus Services bus garage at Willington in early 1976. Many other former Blue Bus buses were lost in the fire, which was thought to have been started deliberately.

7000HP is pictured in Derby Bus Station while demonstration to Blue Bus Service in April 1964, to whom it would make a lasting impression.
