Birds in the Shark Valley area of Everglades National Park

            Heather and I decided to check out another section of the Everglades National Park at Shark Valley. There is relatively little access to the park from this entrance. From the Visitor Center there is a 15 mile loop - you can walk it, rent a bike, or take the tram. We opted for the tram since this was our first visit. It looked good until literally the last minute when a family with two very young children, one about 6 months old and fussing already, came out of the Visitor Center. Of course they sat in our row, spilling over into my seat. The infant proceeded to scream, which he did pretty much nonstop for the next two hours. It was dreadful. I think everyone on the tram was pissed. Our Ranger guide was very knowledgeable but we couldn't hear most of what he said. What a shame. We did see a bunch of alligators and birds - but no snakes. I recommend people take the tram tour - it is a great into to this area. Hopefully no infants will ruin your experience. Next time I hope Heather will opt for renting the bikes for a bit - that would be so cool. Side note - Vets get a significant discount on these tickets.
