Bluebell Railway Ice Rink - a photo on Flickriver

            An unusual feature at the Bluebell Railway during the Giants of Steam Gala was the ice rink being installed in part of the engine shed. The ice had not been frozen as of Friday 13th October and was actually a pool of water about an inch deep. This, of course, afforded the opportunity to take a reflections photograph. Hawksworth 6989 "Wightwick Hall" is standing just outside shed/ice rink entrance and is in steam although not working on the Friday.

It does seem rather bizarre but it is not the first time the Bluebell has done this. Last year, apparently, the ice rink attracted a great number of additional visitors and it is a fact that "bums on seats" is essential for the Railway's prosperity. The ice rink is being decorated in readiness for Halloween. I daresay the children will enjoy it!
