scene from a boat dock - a photo on Flickriver

            I took this shot from a boat dock in a state park. The dock is located at an inlet of the Fox River. The river then flows into Grass Lake, which is one of the 15 of Chain O'Lakes. As its name suggests, these 15 large lakes are connected to adjoining ones and create one big chain. Grass Lake is one of the three lakes in the chain that was created by the melt of glaciation. The other lakes are man-made. Because the river meanders, you cannot see Glass Lake from the dock.

I would stand on the point of the dock and see the waterscape laying out before my eyes. That was usually in the morning. Because the inlet is located in the innermost of the park, the sun was usually high up in the sky by the time I got there. The sunlight was always dazzling.

On a fine morning in autumn last year, I took a shot exactly like this on impulse. The reflection of coloured leaves was beautiful. That picture flashed through my mind when I was on the dock this summer. It led me to take this shot. I also took shots of this scene from behind the shed. The sun was shining through the branches. The pictures were overexposed no matter how I changed my camera's angles.
