Greylag Goose - a photo on Flickriver

Greylag Goose

            Here we have another two photos of a Greylag Goose, this time taken at Torrin. These were taken from inside the car, with the passenger window down and Fiona pressed into the back of the seat to keep out of the way. The camera used was the Sigma FP which I've previously indicated is hopeless for bird photos as it is too slow. However it can cope with slow moving geese and to be honest, I'm delighted at the way these have turned out. I like the colours and although the head shot is a substantial crop, it has turned out OK. 

I'm fortunate that the camera is working at all as I dropped it on to tarmac the other day when I was changing lenses. Luckily I did not have a lens mounted at the time and the camera does not seem to be suffering any ill effects. Initially I thought it wasn't working properly but as it had fallen on on to the control surfaces it had accidentally changed some settings. When I discovered this and put the settings back to normal everything was fine.
