The Red Boat

            We took a run over to Staffin Beach today and I had high hopes of taking some photos of the Rock Pipits which in the past have always been there. Today - absolutely nothing. This is the second time in a few days that locations which have been productive in the past have failed to deliver. As I only had the Tamron 150-600mm lens with me I was limited in my options but decided to photograph this distant boat. I liked the contrast between the red boat and the blue sea and background.
As a postscript, on the way back out we had to stop to let another car pass. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a Rock Pipit on the rock face to the nearside so I shouted at Fiona to quickly wind the window down. I picked up the camera to try to grab an image of the bird which was quite unafraid and in a great position. I switched on the camera to take the shot only to discover that the camera had actually been on and what I had done was switch it off! By the time I figured out what was happening, the bird had flown off. You couldn't make it up.
