Tucked away.

            The old Hall Field pottery works on Festing Street in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, a seemingly forgotten back street on the outskirts of the town.
Built in 1882 and first occupied by Whittaker, Edge & Co, manufacturers of earthenware, the company changed names and partnerships throughout the late nineteenth century. They became Whittaker & Co in 1886 and Whittaker, Heath & Co in 1892, trading until 1898.
The building was subsequently used by a Burslem pottery company, T & R Boote, who continued to operate here until 1947.
It was then taken over by Tunstall tile manufacturer Richards Tiles Ltd who used this factory to produce most of its unglazed tiles. Richards Tiles Ltd later amalgamated with H & R Johnson, another famous name in Potteries tile manufacture.
The old factory has now been split into industrial units and sits only a stones throw away from the sadly decaying Falcon Works on Town Road, at least this one is still standing.
