Nellie Fay, Milo, and Silas Helton, Copy of Albumen Print, Circa November 1902

I don't own this cabinet card, but I purchased this copy from the owner, who sells them, so I assume she will not mind me adding it to my mourning photos with the caveat that this is not in my copyright, but the research is mine.

The image, which originated in Monticello, Indiana, shows a trio of children who stand in front of a cabinet card of a man and woman that looks to date from the 1880s and is probably of their parents. It is propped against a wilted funeral floral arrangement of a broken wheel, signifying that the family circle had been compromised. There is a note attached to the arrangement, but I cannot read it. The seller said an inscription idetified the subjects as Nellie, Milo, Silas Helton.

A search through public records led me to Nellie Fay, Milo Charles, and Silas Warren Helton, born in 1891, 24 June, 1895, and 7 August, 1897, respectively. They were the children of Charles Milo Helton (b. 19 November 1869), an Indiana farmer, and his wife Emma Florence Hart (b. November 1867). The couple married on 20 March, 1887, in Cass County, Indiana.
