            Shasta Springs was a resort on the upper Sacramento River in Northern California.  The resort attracted many visitors for its natural springs and scenic views during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  It was founded by John Ney in 1887, who discovered mineral waters on the property, which was on the main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad.  The resort had its own train station, an incline railway and a bottling plant.  The water from the springs was the original source of the Shasta brand of soft drinks, which became popular nationwide.

The resort had accommodations for 50 guests, along with a spring house, a dining hall, a dance pavilion, and a swimming pool.   It closed in the 1950s when it was sold to the Saint Germain Foundation, a religious organization.  Most of the buildings and facilities have been demolished or overgrown.
