The King's Square end of Shambles, York

            The church in King's Square was known as the Butcher's Church as it was used by the many butchers that had their shops in Shambles. It was demolished in 1933. Now  the square is used by street entertainers to thrill crowds of visitors for most of the year. It lies over the site one of the principal gates of the Roman fortress. Shambles leads off the square by the shop with a red display window.

A pretty quick sketch for me, firstly in black biro then splashed with watercolour, from a few years ago.
