East meets West

            On my way into Chicagoland on the eastbound Southwest Chief (I'd detrain in Naperville), we were held on Main 1 in Earlville, IL for a while due to MOW ahead.  As it turns out, what we were waiting on was our westbound counterpart, Amtrak train no. 3, which was led by 29 year-old GE P40 no. 815!  It's hard for me to think of these things in terms of the E-unit survivors into the 70's and 80's, but on an age-comparison, they're right there with them.
