The Express was indirectly the result of the Fiat, PSA collaboration to produce a medium sized van, as part of the Sevel Sud joint venture. Resulting in the Alfa Romeo AR6, Citreon C25 and Peugeot J5

A second generation was launched in 1994, when the Peugeot van was retitled Peugeot Boxer. The Series 2 Express featured a larger grille. Production of the Talbot continued until 1992 when PSA dropped the Talbot brand

The Talbot Express van was the last Talbot motor vehicle to be produced, sold solely in the United Kingdom. A badge-engineered UK version of the Peugeot J5. Production began in 1984 when the Talbot badge was withdrawn from passenger cars. Its Citroen/Peugeot petrol and diesel engines are transversely mounted driving the front wheels. A 4x4 option was also available although now very rare. n 1991, the series 2 Express was launched with an enlarged grille. Production was discontinued in 1994, when Peugeot finally discarded the Talbot marque.
