            Avanti West Coast 390119 streaks south at full line speed with 1M86 14.52 Edinburgh Waverley - London Euston. 
* You will not find the name of this location on any map but being a local I remember two lattice footbridges in the fields about 1 mile apart and the 'second Iron bridge' was located where the light gantry is now. It carried a footpath from near Dover Lock to Bryn Gates near Bamfurlong, The trees on the left are the perimeter of what was Mains Colliery which had a rail connection to the WCML in the distance up until the 1950's.
Huge changes in this area in my lifetime and I am glad to have recorded this image taken on a lovely April evening with views of Rivington Pike and Haigh Hall on the horizon.
