Taking the lid off the projector head gear side of the Kalart-Victor 1600 carbon-arc 16mm projector, showing the gear train that drives the sprockets, as well as the soundhead flywheels that ensure stable sound. There's another gear train to the right, driven by the motor, which drives the shutter and claw mechanism and the shaft from which this gear train gets its motion.

The projector had been sitting untouched for a decade. I finally tore into the mechanism to clean and lubricate things, so the timing was right for this photo. I am also working on the wiring to get it operational and improve electrical safety by establishing ground (earth) connections.
