Hull Civic Week and exhibition of Hull industries : October 1933 : official programme

            Civic Weeks were all the rage during the inter-war years in the UK and many local authorities organised such events. They were designed to highlight and explain a place's adminstration and services, often along with its history, and often included sections about local industries. The latter was to help drum up publicity and interest, especially in years such as 1933 when the effects of the Depression were still all to obvious, as well as gain support and sponsorship from local companies.

This is the cover to the Civic Week and Exhibition of Hull Industries official programme, organised by the Development Committee of the City & County of Kingston Upon Hull, held in October 1933. It runs to just shy of 100 pages and details the exhibition held at the City Hall and Mortimer Galleries, at which many local concerns had stalls, as well as a programme of public events across the city such as parades, events and open days.
