A walk to the shops - 23 May 2015

            We're luck in that we live close to the preserved Epping - Ongar Railway and so local walks, such as across the fields to Epping as I did yesterday to do some shopping, can be a fascinating stroll. 23 May was no exception - a visiting loco and spring flowers!

As a child, in Lancashire, we used to go on expeditions to cut and dry this with my grandma - comfrey or as we knew it 'knitbone'. She used the leaves as a herbal poltice for arthritis and rheumatism. Its always amazing to see this big, structural plant with its vibrant purple/blue flowers.
