            Where once loco hauled trains reigned supreme now Virgin Trains operated 'Pendolino' EMUs form the bulk of the West Coast mainline passenger services. In the foreground is 390 020 working the 11.30 London Euston to Glasgow Central while beyond is 390 041 forming the 13.40 Glasgow Central to London Euston. Both units are seen at Carlisle's Citadel station.
