4w-4wDH no.7 'Graham Alexander' at Haste Hill station. Ruislip Lido Railway. Greater London.

            The 12in gauge Ruislip Lido Railway is a long established line which first started operating in 1945 in parkland beside Ruislip Lido. The line was once in local council ownership but since being taken over by the Ruislip Lido Railway Society Ltd in 1979 it has flourished. The line is a slightly unusual gauge at 12 inches as most miniature railways are either 7¼, 10¼ or 15 inch. It runs for 1¼ miles on a balloon loop style layout.
In 1990 the operating society invested in this brand new diesel hydraulic built by Severn Lamb Ltd. The 4w-4wDH named 'Graham Alexander' (wks no. 222.3 of 1990) is seen running round its train at Haste Hill station before returning to Woody Bay. Being located in the outer London suburbs this line enjoys year round operation even in the winter months at weekends weather permitting.
