STEADY RUNNER at Boven Merwede - a photo on Flickriver

► █░▓      INDIAN SUMMER in Lowlands and nearby, a real treat at the end of October. Actually it's similar all over Europe. In the Netherlands, October 28th was the warmest on record - 23°C (73°F) in Maastricht. So were the January 1st, March 22nd, August 14th and 25th. If the forecast for today (October 29th) proves true, Maastricht may with 24°C (75 °F) break yet another record this year by another degree! 

Earlier this year there was a day with the coldest ever temperature measured too: September 18th with just 13.3°C (56°F). The previous cold-day record had been set three years ago. All this is very beneficiary for the photographers, of course, as people retain some of the summer vibe & good mood attitude and tend to object less when being captured. Especially in relaxed places like this miniature NATURAL RESORT - Sleeuwijkerwaard. 

This was the Day 1, the commissioning of my newly acquired camera and lens. At this age, probably no one will remember my date in November, so for the first time I bought myself a birthday present... myself. Thank you Erik for the bargain price and great gear! 

A strange but capable combination, these Pana G90 with the Oly 12-40mm f/2.8. The former feels in de hand almost indistinguishable from my trusty but unreliable G80😋; but the results are different. The latter is larger than I had expected, perhaps not as sharp as I hoped for, but has an uncanny uniform performance throughout the whole zoom range, nice contrast and color, so... it's difficult to complain or ask more from a standard zoom! PL 12-60 is perhaps a hair sharper (from memory), but it's an altogether completely divergent lens.
