Chiogga 'bragozzo' at the Naval Historical Museum, Venice.

We usually like to do something a bit different when travelling. This time we visited the Naval Historical Museum, which was absolutely fascinating. As well as being inexpensive and delightfully cool, it houses a lot of fascinating Venetian water craft. Venice is steeped in maritime history and this is a Chioggia (a town south of Venice) 'bragozzo' (wooden sailing boat) used for fishing at sea. The style not really changing from 1600 to 1960.
Now, I only know this because I took a picture of the very small information sign that you can just make out about 3/4 of the way down the boat. I read this as a tip once, to make sure you take a pic of the info and it has been invaluable over the years as a reminder of WTF I was looking at several years before!
