Una piazza rinascimentale - A square from Renaissance

            Piazza Pio II è il cuore del centro storico di Pienza. 
La Piazza e gli edifici che la circondano vennero realizzati dall’architetto fiorentino Bernardo Rossellino verso la metà del 1400 nell’ambito del progetto di Papa Pio II (nativo di Pienza) di risistemare il suo borgo natale secondo i principi dell'urbanistica e dell'architettura rinascimentale.
Sulla piazza prospettano quattro edifici: il Palazzo Piccolomini (a destra), la Cattedrale, il Palazzo Vescovile (si intravede appena sulla sinistra della Cattedrale), il Palazzo Comunale (sotto i cui portici è stata realizzata questa foto). Sulla destra, di fronte a Palazzo Piccolomini, è possibile vedere anche il pozzo (sempre realizzato su disegno del Rossellino).

Square Pio II in Pienza (Tuscany, Italy) is the hearth of the historic center of Pienza.
The square and the surrounding buildings were built by the florentine architect Bernardo Rossellino about in the middle of XV cent., within the project of Pope Pio II (who was borne in Pienza) to rearrange his native village according to the Renaissance principles for urbanism and architecture.
On the Square there are four buildings: Piccolomini Palace (on the right), the Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace (just visible its side on the left of the image), the Municipal Palace with its arches (from which this shot was taken). 
On the right side, in front of Piccolomini Palace, you can see also a well (built on the drawing of Rossellino).
