Maidens Hotel, Menindee, NSW

Burke and Wills camped here in October 1860 prior to their ill-fated expedition to Coopers Creek and the Gulf of Carpenaria QLD. At that time the Hotel was known as Tom Pain's Pub.

The hotel, established in 1853, was owned by the Maidens Family from 1879 to 1979, hence the name.
It is claimed that this hotel/pub is the second oldest Pub in NSW under continuous operation with the "Bush Inn" at New Norfolk TAS being the oldest (openend in 1825).

A fire in 1999 severely damaged the main building of the hotel, destroying many years of history. 
The hotel was rebuilt in 2000 incorporating the original front of the hotel and bed rooms which lead onto a lovely courtyard.
