Castle Point Lighthouse - a photo on Flickriver

            Castle Point Lighthouse, Wairarapa Coast, New Zealand. The rocky outcrop in the background was named Castle Point by the British explorer Captain James Cook in 1770 after he likened it to an old medieval stronghold. The lighthouse (constructed in 1913) is one of the tallest in New Zealand at 23 metres (75 feet) tall and only one of two lighthouses left with a rotating beam - that can be seen up to 26 nautical miles. The lighthouse looks out over the small township of Castlepoint and the South Pacific Ocean.
