Shiprock and the raven - a photo on Flickriver

            While in New Mexico we had to see and photograph Shiprock. It really is a quite impressive geological feature. The ridge on the left of the photo is quite fascinating; to the best of my knowledge it is entirely natural, but the top part looks exactly like an old stone wall.

There's also an internet myth about his rock, which says the best way to get to it is to drive by some people's houses.  That's not true; the road is blocked (possibly due to the popularity of the internet myth).  
A woman we encountered by those houses told us to drive back to the paved road, then follow it to the wall (ridge) and drive to the rock on the dirt road along the wall.  
That was also what the Apple map on my iPad said and it seemed much better than the other one, but try to convince a man about that!

The raven in the photo was also showing us the way, so I added it to the photo later.  It was shot with my Z6 and 500mm, not the Leica's 28mm!  It was a big raven, but not THAT big!
