WP 771 -- GE U30B - a photo on Flickriver

WP 771 -- GE U30B

            Scan of a postcard. From the back: "WESTERN PACIFIC 771 -- Former General Electric U36B demonstrator 304 was rebuilt to a 3000 hp U30B and sold to the Western Pacific. Builder's date, May 1971."

The 770 and 771 were the last two U30B's bought by the WP. They were also the first two to be retired, due to mechanical issues (most likely related to various rebuilds--they were U30B, U36B and U33B demonstrators prior to being sold to WP as U30B's). They were renumbered to 3070 and 3071 in the early 1970's.
