Rajah Brooke's Birdwing (Trogonoptera brookiana)

            Danum Valley, Borneo
There were species that I expected to see in Borneo (Orangutan, Proboscis Monkey etc) and species I hoped to see, but didn't think I probably would, This giant, beautiful butterfly falls into the latter category.
I didn't see it until near the end of the trip and found 2 of them "puddling" - taking up salts and minerals from damp ground, I think "over the moon" describes well how I felt!
They're simply stunning.
