This Wilga was operated by the Aeroklub Krakówski from its base at Kraków-Pobiednik Wielki, the GA airfield of the Polish city of Kraków, and was ready for the next pleasure flight, which we booked! Registered as SP-AGW 'Golf Whisky', the Wilga was operated in this colourful special livery, the significance of which could not be established, as even the pilot had no idea why it was painted up like this, perhaps also due to his limited knowlege of the English language.

Nevertheless, he took us to the air in SP-AGW on a 31 minute pleasure ride over the city of Kraków, starting with a rather bumpy departure from Pobiednik Wielki's grass runway, and later showing us the lovely old city of Kraków, the interesting aviation museum, and the large Huta to the East of the city. A Huta was a large steel works complex ("Kombinat"), covering several square kilometres of area, having several steel ovens that were in operation 24/7, having its own housing for the workers, an own road and traffic system and even an own traffic police! After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of communism in Poland, however, the Huta was significantly scaled down, and in 2020 closed most  of its operations. Now owned by Arcelor Mittal, it eventually became a part of a new neighborhood of Kraków, now called Nova Huta.

After the pleasure ride, our Wilga touched down safely at Pobiednik Wielki, and had to pose for a few photos, including this one showing it right after we had disembarked. A truly lovely experience, and one of my few take-offs from and landings on a grass runway.

SP-AGW's history is rather sketchy, but at the time of my visit to Kraków it was owned and operated by the Aeroklub. At some time it was retired, and transferred to the Wystawa Agrolotnictwo museum at Szreniawa, near Poznań, where it was last reported as being on display in September 2023, still in this eye-catching livery.
