K’NIGHT’ IN SHINING ARMOUR - a photo on Flickriver

            Almost a year before I could get the chance to return to my favourite place, “under the night sky”. It was a privilege to experience some of Southern Ontario’s finest night skies during our yearly summer retreat at Algonquin Park. 

The Ojibwe see stars as animate beings with spirits, and their movements reflect the energy and spirituality of the universe. Whenever I get to spend time under the night sky, there’s a spiritual awakening and I feel a sense of calm and protection as it has lead me to a journey of healing, finding myself, forgiving, loving and experiencing peace.

This spot with the lake and the tree line in the foreground, worked perfectly not only for some nice photos but also some crazy views of the Milky Way galactic core moving across the horizon. While the night sky lights up my life, my heart sinks seeing how busy it has become up there with the ever increasing artificial objects going around us. It almost looks like they leave a scar as they go by. I counted almost 13 satellite trails in this frame alone. Did you know there are far more stars in the observable universe than there are grains of sand on all the Earth's beaches and deserts combined. Let that sink in and give you some perspective.
