SHETLAND ISLANDS - Explore july 16, 2024 #86

            The Shetland Islands, in the far north of Scotland, constitute an archipelago of around a hundred islands of which barely fifteen are inhabited. Beaten by the Atlantic winds, they do not see many trees growing. The weather is particularly changeable there; a local saying goes: “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes!” ".

Les îles Shetland, à l’extrême nord de l'Écosse, constituent un archipel d’une centaine d’îles dont à peine une quinzaine sont habitées. Battues par les vents d’Atlantique, elles ne voient par beaucoup d’arbres pousser. Le temps y est particulièrement changeant ; un dicton local dit d’ailleurs : « Si le temps ne te plait pas, attends cinq minutes ! ».
