BASTEI (Bastion en français) - a photo on Flickriver

            A quelques kilomètres seulement au sud est de Dresde, la Suisse Saxonne et la vallée de l'Elbe offrent un paysage de formations rocheuses sculpté par l'érosion de l'eau il y a des millions d'années, c'est à couper le souffle!   Dès le début du XX siècle, des protecteurs de la nature se sont impliqués pour protéger ce paysage rocheux unique autour du Bastion. C'est ainsi que fut empêché un projet de construction de voie ferrée. Dès 1938, la Bastei fut déclarée première réserve naturelle du massif gréseux de l'Elbe. Aujourd'hui, la zone se trouve au cœur du parc national de la Suisse saxonne, où la réglementation sur la protection est très stricte.

Just a few kilometers southeast of Dresden, Saxon Switzerland and the Elbe valley offer a breathtaking landscape of rock formations sculpted by water erosion millions of years ago. breathtaking! Since the beginning of the 20th century, nature conservationists have been involved in protecting this unique rocky landscape around the Bastion. This is how a railway construction project was prevented. In 1938, the Bastei was declared the first nature reserve in the Elbe sandstone massif. Today the area lies in the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, where regulations on protection are very strict.
