Elfin Forest Pathway - a photo on Flickriver

            The Elfin Forest Natural Area, located near Morro Bay in California features trees with stunted growth due to poor soil and other conditions.  Pygmy trees include primarily Coast Live Oaks, as well as some Manzanitas.  Visible in the background are some of the "Seven Sisters", volcanic cores in a row between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.  Now it is known that  there are nine such hills making up this row.
