A Long Days Shadows - a photo on Flickriver

            30 June 2018: The New England Southern Railroad (NEGS) CA-X is making its final move of the day as they pull into an empty Canterbury Yard. Here the railroads sole locomotive number 2555 is pulling forward onto the double ended siding where she will be shut down for the week. 

Todays chores for the NEGS crew consisted of spiking tie’s between MP C-3 and C-4 (measured from the gone Concord Union Station) and clearing out their Canterbury yard. After spiking they would bring NEGS 3 ex D&H hoppers, 2 ex D&H box cars, 2 flat cars (1 ex D&H and 1 B&M), an ex CN combine and an ex CN executive caboose north to Tilton. Most of these 9 cars were bound for Caboose Village in Tilton with only the caboose being stored on the 3M siding. 

Theses cars were moved north and the spiking was done as in a few weeks NEGS would take delivery of 67 flat cars for a NH National Guard military train. The train would come in empty and would be loaded here in Canterbury Yard in the middle of July.
