Class C13, locomotive, No.7406, (later B.R. No.67406), built by the Vulcan Foundry Limited, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, in 1903, is seen here, having just cleared the end of the down island platform at Mexborough Station, by way of the down passenger loop-line, on the former Great Central Railway, Sheffield to Doncaster line, and is presumably waiting for the road to be set from Mexborough No.2 Signal Box, out of view, on the right-hand-side, for the line towards Swinton, on 11/02/1931. In the distance, another, unidentified locomotive appears to be standing at the end of the brake-van siding.
Built by Vulcan Foundry Limited, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, to Works No.1880, in 1903, as Class 9K, and delivered into service as Great Central Railway, No.1061. The early history of this locomotive is unknown, but it is recorded as being allocated to the London and North Eastern Railway, Sheffield Darnall M.P.D., (Shed Code SHF), on 01/01/1948, where it was to remain, until withdrawn from service, on 30/03/1953. It is recorded that the locomotive was transferred to British Railways, Gorton Locomotive Works, in April 1953, and that it was scrapped there, shortly thereafter. The locomotive was renumbered, as No.6061, in February 1924, by the London and North Eastern Railway, then again renumbered, as No.7406, in July 1946, by the London and North Eastern Railway, and then again renumbered, as No. 67406, in August 1950, by British Railways.
