Shakespeare and Other Globe - a photo on Flickriver

            I have already shown this object, but I was torn between trying to display it just as itself, as nearly as possible, or as an object within its setting.  I have changed my mind as to my preference, but my alternatives are too different for me to simply replace the original.

This secular stained glass window in honour of The Bard was made in Melbourne in 1862. Apparently modelled on a statue in the British Library, it started life as a commissioned piece for a music hall in the heart of the city, but it moved around quite a bit before eventually finding a permanent home on the 6th floor gallery of The State Library of Victoria, Melbourne.  It is free standing in front of a window on a westerly facet of the octagonal walls leading to the domed roof.   Afternoon light is apparently the most favourable, but this shot was taken in the morning.
