Bartmann

            A Bartmann (Bearded man's) stein is a special type of beer mug that was used in Europe in the Middle Ages. This one was made in Frechen near Cologne. The jug had a thick wall and a handle shaped like a beard, which made it easy to grip and carry. Bartmann steins were often made of clay or pottery and were used to serve beer or other alcoholic drinks.
