M83 - The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy - Explored May 17, 2024

            M83 (the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy) is a barred spiral galaxy and is approximately 15 million light-years away from Earth. It is in the constellation borders of Centaurus and Hydra.

Taken using the ASI Seestar S50 on an almost 1/2 moon night from an area out the back from where I live.  It is not quite a dark site, but no street lights and mostly farm land around. I consider it a dark sky site for me, even though it is in the main flight path to Tullamarine Airport, which is only about 5 km's to the South.

Stacked and processed using PixInsight.
